UD alumna Sarah K. Noonan (’06 MPA) was recently honored as both the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) advocate of the month for September 2008 and a Bank of America Neighborhood Excellence Initiative Emerging Leader for 2007.

Since August 2007, Sarah has served as Deputy Director of Westside Family Healthcare with chief responsibilities in the areas of marketing, communications, fund development and advocacy and has been with Westside for over two years.   Sarah has committed her time to fostering strong relationships with Delaware’s Congressional Delegation, state and local government officials and their staffs, and has worked to advocate on such issues as children’s health insurance, Medicaid expansion, small-business health insurance–purchasing pool, infant-morality initiatives and community health–center funding.  Sarah is an appointed member of the Delaware Health Resources Board and is a member of NACHC’s Health Policy Committee, the Delaware Association for Public Administrators, the Delaware Aging Network, and the Delaware Association for Non-Profit Agencies, where she serves on the advocacy committee.

As a student at the University of Delaware (where she earned a Master of Public Administration degree in Health Care Policy and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science) and research assistant with IPA, Noonan was a political natural.  She was selected and served the Delaware General Assembly as Legislative Fellow, providing non-partisan research to members of the Delaware Senate.
